Mari— We are not bee rescuers; we are a non-profit that teaches urban beekeepers. Your son should contact the many hard-working bee rescuers about filming. That being said, he and his crew are welcome at any of our meetings to learn about our work. No suit required.

Roberta—You should come to the next symposium meeting for more info on catching swarm, baiting, space management, etc. The following month will be the country ag inspector, also important info to stay in compliance.

    Laurence—
A hobbyist or amateur should absolutely not be handling this removal. The landlord should be well aware that a licensed, insured, knowledgable bee rescuer is best to invite on to his property and begin knocking out a wall or doing a lengthy trapout. Very few beeks (but some) will want to take on a colony that has poison in its recent history. Please have the landlord check our rescue bees page or email me for trusted local referrals for removal. http://honeylove.org/rescuebees/

    Thanks.

Why does it need to be removed?
Who is paying for the cherry-picker?
Who is granting access to the property?

Surely the remodel crew is not working for free, why should the bee rescuer? Click here to google a live-bee removal service: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Live+Bee+Removal+Service+Los+Angeles

Hey Pomona! Go to the “Rescue Bees” tab under the About section for two options to have these bees rescued. If you wish to become a beekeeper, you’ll need education and mentoring before you get a colony. Come to meetings, come to mentoring, get a mentor and begin reading. There will be plenty of bees available when you’re ready. Thanks!

I have also had success with a very, very light misting of water on bees hanging out on the front porch. They will go inside if they think it is raining.

Thanks. So it has bupkis to do with the queen. Yes?
Underscores the importance of doing research reading and not just parroting anecdotal info another beekeeper tells you.

Susan! So sorry to hear this. Such terrible news. Are you sure that a disgruntled neighbor did not poison them? John Lyons had that happen to him last year. Do you know what sort of poison could devastate them so quickly?

Freezing is the best way to go, bug-wise. Were the bugs present when you harvested? Got any photos to share?
