Torrance: Bees and Chickens Vote

Awesome news! The council voted 7-0 tonight to direct city staff to draft ordinances allowing chicken and beekeeping that can be brought back to the council at a later date for further consideration. The council brought up a number of points that they want staff to address, preferably in the draft ordinances.

There were about a dozen speakers and only 1 person spoke out against the keeping of bees and chickens. Many people spoke very eloquently in favor of both ordinances. I took notes that I will send out in a later email but wanted to share the great news with you all. Thanks to all that wrote emails to the council and/or spoke tonight, it definitely helped our cause.

There is more work to go, but tonight was a very good night.
