Beeks—if you are really wanting to rocket-propel your learning about beekeeping, you can’t do better than going to beek conferences. I have gone to 3 and am going to this one again up in Oregon in Aug. There are 40 open spaces and a great slate of speakers over the 3 days. You will be able to schmooze with the greats of the bee world over yummy meals and casual conversation. There is NO BETTER way to have fun and learn. This conference is sited at a working farm that uses draft horses and has a apiary and fruit/vegetable acreage that is their livelihood.

    Here is a taste—

2014 West Coast Treatment-Free Beekeeping Conference
    August 2nd and 3rd
    Science supporting healthy bees!
The goals for this conference are:
    1) To explore through science treatment-free beekeeping
    2) To gain hands-on understanding of techniques
    3) To build community
    4) To experience a working, small diverse farm.
    You talked, I listened!
This year the food will be based off of what is in season at our 230 acre diverse farm in Southern Oregon. You will get a chance to tour the farm as well as enjoying our delicious, freshly harvested, organically produced veggies, grains, and beans. Food choices will be vegetarian, but will include dairy.

I grabbed a nice HEAVY swarm just before lunch. They are boxed up and ready for adoption. First come, first serve. I live in Valencia, 5 miles from Magic Mountain, I-5 exit at Lyons Ave. (661) 312-3910
