    Hey,Beeks—-have you noticed the profusion of bright yellow single flowers held on tall stems with a clover-leaf like leaf shape? It is a weedy occupant of roadsides, railroad verges, vacant lots and slopes all over LA, especially after the rains we have had. And it is heavily visited by bees! The botanical name is Oxalis pes-caprae, and is a tiny bulb under the ground, a invasive weed originally from South Africa. Of course, our place is similar in climate, so it is doing very well here. Look around—your bees are feeding on this!

Been beekeeping almost 5 years now. Have 27 hives,(2 client hives) I work with the City of Manhattan Beach, re-homing bees in conflict with citizens. Allowed to keep bees at the Public Works yard (19 hives) in exchange for this work. I do many presentations for HoneyLove, teach bee students, rescue bees and sell honey.
