Hello! I’m sorry if this is not the place to be asking this question, but I am a filmmaker and am interested in shooting a simple sequence for a music video using live bees and a performer. We are located in LA, and I am looking for someone who is knowledgeable on the topic who can point me in the right direction. We are looking to shoot a close-up of our singer and want four or five bees to be flying around her or climbing on her face. None of the bees would be harmed in the scene. I have seen photo shoots done before using bee pheromones but I do not know about the safety issues or what type of bees would be best to use. I am wondering if you know of someone I could talk to let me know more about this process. I don’t mean to take away from the great work you guys are doing here, just not sure who to ask about this. Thanks!
Hi, I am the moderator of the forum but somehow I missed your message—really sorry! I can’t think how this could be done, especially with so few bees—they are sorta wild, you know, and do not take directions well….
Bee Queen pheromone is what I think you are referring to, when stunts like making a “bee beard” on a person is done. Mostly, these would be European purchased honeybees, not the ferals we use.
