    “Needed”
    Not necessarily a need

But the bees seem to not be disturbed or even aware that they are being observed, and so remain undisturbed. One can see Small Hive Beatle or inspect the bees so closely as to see mites on the bees.

Showing your hive to none beekeepers is another advantage ?

    It is a $40 option.

    Beckie

Did you get your swarm picked up yet ?

I have a brand new empty hive that I would like to populate with a farel swarm. I like to always populate with farel swarms rather than buying bees. The farel swarms are generally hardier and more disease and pest resistant.

Check out horizontalhives.com for info on the Layens hive

Also if you want a real good pictur of a Layens frame go to Etsy and do a search for Layens Horizontal Hive Frames.

The location needs to be sunny location and a part of your yard that is out of the way and away so as to minimize disruption, out of landowners way. I need free and ready access to the hive, so the owner is not bothered every time I need to tend to the hive. Because of the nature of keeping bees, I need access to the yard 24/7 (sometimes things are done to the hive at night while the bees are all inside of the hive and not out foraging, and while they are calm and resting. Other times it is best to maintain the hive during the middle of the day when a lot of the bees are out of the hive and out foraging.) and there needs to be a water source. It doesn’t take very much land. I would prefer a location out of the public view.

I would be happy to come and get your hive for free, as long as you are donating the hive and frames for free. I live in El Monte, so I think we are somewhat close to each other.
