    Hello Everyone,

There is a beehive now on my mom’s garage in Santa Monica. What are some options of safely handling the removal and potentially, maybe keeping the bees safe at a new home?

    Thank you!

Hey Pomona! Go to the “Rescue Bees” tab under the About section for two options to have these bees rescued. If you wish to become a beekeeper, you’ll need education and mentoring before you get a colony. Come to meetings, come to mentoring, get a mentor and begin reading. There will be plenty of bees available when you’re ready. Thanks!

Thanks for the pointer, I don’t know how I missed that. I just went through the phone menu system.

Much appreciated. And now that I am aware of this group, I’m looking forward to learning more (but I’m not up for any bee keeping at this time).

Amy—this post reply you put up was marked “hidden” ???? WHERE are you located? Are you in Sacramento?
Anyway, I am responding. Your neighbor is not informed about safe bee removal and I would ignore this advice. Pest control companies are in the business of exterminating honey bees and have no expertise in rescuing bees or handling them humanely. They apply poisons to your property. They can create defensive reactions in the bees whose home is being destroyed, resulting in stinging incidents. Please let us know where you live. A beekeeper is the best person to safely take the bees from your garden, but you will need to provide some basic information—-How HIGH up is the colony? In a tree, structure, or what? How LONG has it been there? Please reply back
    Thanks
